Small groups

Every week when I play in the band for the students it is also part of the bands job or service to connect with the kids hearing the music. It’s one thing playing all the music on stage, but you can even make it more impactful if you go out and talk to the kids off stage. This can help them feel involved instead of just watching us on stage which can feel so far away.

Sunday Morning Band

About once a month I play at the Sunday morning services where the whole congregation comes. I play piano or keys just like Wednesday’s. These services have more pressure to them because the amount of people and the better musicians on stage. We are also performing more mature songs, not as many songs that will relate to a kid.

Mission outpost

On Sundays I help out the mission outpost. The mission outpost is a food and life charity. People who go to the church donate stuff every Sunday to the outpost. My job is to bring the bins of stuff to the outpost and sort it into categories. My part saves a lot of time for the church so they can get stuff out to people right away.

Student Ministry Band

For this service learning project I will explaining what I do at church, this ranges from playing in bands to helping out at a charity. This post will focus on my church, Prince of Peace and its student ministry band. I am a part of this band. I play the “keys” as they call it. This mainly includes making a cool kind of backbone to every song that the band performs. The songs we mainly perform are upbeat worship songs. We play for the 6-12 graders so that is our main audience. Our goal as a band is to uplift and show the faith off to all the kids, so high schoolers have a safe and fun place to come worship and spend with friends every week.
